Travel-to-work time, rent prices or its low crime rate are aspects that attest to León’s place among the best Spanish cities to live in.

In León, the average travel-to-work time is 19 minutes, far below the average time in cities like Madrid or Barcelona. In these cities it takes you more than half an hour to get to work. Renting a one-bedroom apartment costs approximately EUR 400 –a figure quite far from the nearly EUR 800 required to live in Madrid, or over EUR 800 in Barcelona-. If we look at cities such as Berlin or London, in Berlin the average rent price of an apartment in the city centre is EUR 739; and living in London under the same terms is close to EUR 2,000. León is a safe city, having half the crime rate of Madrid or Barcelona.

All these data make León one of the best Spanish cities to live in. It is comfortable, safe, affordable, with very low pollution levels and really well connected, as you can read in our other post ‘León, key to the logistics of northwestern Spain’ by clicking on the following link. In addition, León has high-quality public and private schools, a University Hospital, six health centres and three private clinics.

León is an attractive city to live and work in.

Besides boasting some of the most spectacular monuments in Spain –its gothic cathedral with the largest surface of stained-glass windows in the world-, it offers many cultural activities for all audiences. León is also the “Cradle of Parliamentarism” (as acknowledged by UNESCO in 2013), for in 1188 King Alfonso IX of León summoned, for the first time in history, the ‘Three Estates’ to the council Curia Regis, granting pre-democratic rights to every estate.

León is among the best Spanish cities to live in, also thanks to its entertainment scene. There exists a deep-rooted entertainment culture in relation to the city’s delicious gastronomy on offer. It has bars and restaurants located in ancient quarters full of charm. Moreover, these quarters are extremely lively and busy thanks to tourists and the Camino de Santiago pilgrims.

All in all, León is an attractive city to work and live in. If you too believe so, you need to know that you can rely on LeónUP to move your company here or look for job in some of the enterprises that have already established themselves in the city.
