The seventh session of Foro Empresas León UP took place on the 31st October. On this occasion we enjoyed the collaboration of Ricardo Catelli from Global Lean, who explained all the advantages entailed in applying the Lean methodology to León’s SMEs to over 60 entrepreneurs and professionals attending the event
The father of Lean philosophy was Taiichi Ohno, making it evolve from Ohno’s original Just in Time (JIT) to the broader and more complete concept we have these days. Currently, Lean is the philosophy for the administration of the company’s operations aiming to make the processes more efficient, flexible and agile through simplifying and removing those waste-generating practices.
During the presentation, the participants had the opportunity to get to know the four essential principles of this philosophy, known as the four Ps, how to organise the work efficiently using the 5S quality tool, the importance of standardization in this methodology, the identification of problems by means of the Ishikawa diagram, and how to choose the detected opportunities for improvement.
During his talk, Ricardo Catelli provided the attendees with several practical examples to apply the Lean methodology to SMEs, very illustrative examples of all the benefits involved in applying this methodology to present-day companies.
When the talk was over, the participants showed the great interest generated by this issue by asking questions about some of the aspects of the Lean methodology they were interested in analysing more in detail, which brought about an interesting debate between the speaker and the audience.
To sum up, this seventh session of the forum has been a complete success, not to mention the great interest shown by the local business and professional community.
We hope the last session of this 2018 forum, scheduled on the 28th November, and which will focus on the importance tangible assets have for companies nowadays, will have as warm a welcome as the October session.
