Demographics

León is a province of Spain in the northwest of the autonomous region of Castilla y León. In January 2017, the city’s population stood at 473 604 inhabitants.

León stands out for its quality of life thanks to the broad range of cultural activities available, and its historical-artistic heritage, all integrated into a modern city full of squares, parks and fountains, and endowed with an integrated and environmentally-friendly urban development structure.

Climate

León is one the sunniest European cities, with 2624 hours of sunshine per year.

Its continental climate is tempered in the summers by its height above sea level, and also by its proximity to the Cantabrian mountain range.

Rainfall is irregular throughout the year, and the seasons varied. Winters are cold and spring is short, starting with frost and late snow, In the summer, the maximum temperature reaches 30ºC, and autumn is long with a fall in temperatures and widespread frost.
