In LeónUP we would like to show you another strong asset of cybersecurity in the city: the Research Institute of Applied Sciences in Cybersecurity (Instituto de Ciencias Aplicadas a la Ciberseguridad – RIASC)
Thanks to a partnership between the University of León and INCIBE, León can enjoy the Research Institute of Applied Sciences in Cybersecurity to “develop professional training and specialisation programmes, as well as provide training in the technology field.” Both, the University of León and the INCIBE, signed a framework agreement for collaboration in 2014. The aim of this collaboration is “to speed up future collaboration projects between both entities”.
Of course, this institution develops research lines and projects connected to cybersecurity. Among these, we can find research on Bid Data and Network Analysis. The Research Institute of Applied Sciences in Cybersecurity maintains relations with different institutions, not only in Spain, but also abroad.
As for training, besides courses for young people, there is a Master’s Degree on Cybersecurity Research. This master is an official qualification and last for two years. Its goal is “to gather the strong interdisciplinary nature of cybersecurity, allowing the students to gain knowledge about the research conducted in the most significant fields where this can be applied”.
The Research Institute of Applied Sciences in Cybersecurity arranges many more activities such as online seminars on various topics. It also organises a course “aimed at high-school students to provide them with a view of cybersecurity approached from a technological, occupational and industrial perspective”.
