Scarcely a few months ago, the University of León and the University of Xiangtan signed a renewal agreement for the Instituto Confucio to remain in León for at least five more years. One of the objectives of this institute, besides the dissemination of Chinese culture, language, science and technology, is to promote the relations between China and Spain.
The office of the Instituto Confucio in León has managed to become a reference centre of this institution at a European level. The institute has doubled the number of students in only two years, proving its potential growth in the city of León, which is further evidence of the talent existing in the city of León as well as the one you can acquire in it.
From this school year on, furthermore, the educational centres in Castilla y León will be able to open Confucio Classrooms to teach Chinese language and culture. This step has been taken thanks to an agreement signed between the Consejería de Educaciónand the Instituto Confucioof the University of León. This is a clear example of the talent living in León and throughout the autonomous region; accordingly, Castilla y León has become the only Autonomous Region to regulate the teaching of Chinese language in its official curriculum.
